Ultrabooks continue to challenge smartphones and tablets on the market. Two recently released and notable products include Lenovo's ThinkPad Yoga and Samsung ATIV Lite. What do these devices offer on the table? Which is better?

Samsung ATIV Lite

Samsung has been making a mark in the tech industry for its series of devices especially its Galaxy line. Despite not being a software company, Samsung has included a number of interesting software configurations in its ATIV Book 9 line. This should be worth looking into, especially for users who want to connect or sync their Samsung or Android phones.

The ATIV Book 9 Lite combines the features of two of Samsung's lower-end laptop models. The Lite comes with a 1.4-GHz quad-core Samsung-made processor based on AMD's latest low-power architecture. Samsung remains one of the few companies that can create its own CPU. The chip Samsung uses is more versatile compared to the AMD design.

This means the device can speed up to efficiently do challenging tasks compared to a standard AMD-powered notebook. However, this is at the expense of using more battery. The laptop features 13.3-inch display, 1,366 x 768 pixels, 128 GB solid state drive (100 GB usable) and 4 GB DDR3 RAM.

In terms of hardware, Samsung's "touchsmart" technology is impressive. The 13.3-inch display is easy to work with and the keyboard is also comfortable to use. According to several sources, the overall frame of the ATIV Lite is pleasant to work with. It also sports an excellent design announcing "high end" and "premium."

Samsung paid attention to every detail in this particular model. The thin, wavy design is stylish. The power connector is also small that it does not take up too much space. It complements the overall package. The ATIV Book 9 Lite features two USB connectors, one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0. Other components include HDMI mini output, headphone jack, 3-in-1 card media card slot, special Ethernet port and VGA mini-out.

Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga

The ThinkPad Yoga offers a rugged approach to ultrabooks. The device features a magnesium-alloy shell, 12.5-inch display with Gorilla Glass including a "lift-and-lock" keyboard. The keyboard retracts automatically to offer a flush surface when the user switches to tablet mode. The laptop also offers 1,366 x 768 or 1,920 x 1,080 resolution anti-smudge display.

The ThinkPad Yoga series comes with Intel Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 CPUs. Lenovo offers up to 8 GB of DDR3/1600 memory plus 8 hours of battery life. It is 0.74 inches thick with I/O ports such as 4-in-1 card reader, two USB 3.0 ports and mini HDMI.
