The new Lenovo Yoga 720 is an example of modern technology done right. The device, which was launched at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2017) in Barcelona, is technically a 2-in-1 gaming laptop thanks to its combination of power, flexibility and portability.

The Yoga 720 is a multitasker’s dream machine. For a convertible, it packs a whole lot of power in its relatively slim frame. Boosting the Lenovo Yoga 720’s rep are the latest Intel processors (up to 7th gen Core i7) and up to 1 TB PCIe SSD storage. It carries 8 GB of DDR4 RAM on board, but can accommodate a maximum of 16 GB for double the muscle.

The Lenovo Yoga 720 furnishes a 720p HD camera alongside a couple of JBL speakers (backed by Dolby Audio Premium software) and a built-in fingerprint reader for easy and secure log-in through Windows Hello. The device also comes with an optional active pen support for editing, note-taking and sketching. According to Lenovo, the company made it a mission to make the Yoga 720’s versatility cater to the needs of its users in every aspect.

“Users need consistency and continuity across every facet of their lives (work, home, school, hobbies) and are weary of switching from one computer to another based on location or activity,” says the Chinese multinational tech company. “The versatile Yoga 720 is ideal for multitaskers who want to effortlessly switch between budgeting on a spreadsheet with full keyboard in laptop mode to sharing a video in tent mode.”

Lenovo’s new device comes in two sizes and two display options. The 15.6-inch Yoga 720 and its smaller 13.3-inch brother are available in 4K UHD models (with 3,840 x 2,160 resolution) and FHD variants (with 1,920 x 1,080 resolution). The larger machine packs an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050M graphics card while the smaller unit comes with an Intel HD Graphics 620 video card.

The 15.6-inch Yoga 720 can supposedly last up to 8 hours with the 4K UHD display and up to 9 hours with the FHD display. Meanwhile, the 13.3-inch version’s battery life extends up to 7 hours with the 4K UHD screen and up to 8 hours with the FHD monitor.

Those who are interested in getting the Lenovo Yoga 720 should wait until its arrival in April. Prices start at US$1,099 (AU$1,452) for the 15.6-inch Yoga 720 while the smaller variant has a starting price of US$1,099 (AU$1,135). The devices are available in two colour options (platinum silver and iron grey) with the 13.3-inch unit getting an extra copper version.
