LG Exec Leaks Nearing Nexus 5 Release Date via LG G2 Aug-Sept 2013 Launch, Device Coming to Australia in October?
South Korea's LG is reportedly phasing the global rollout of its new flagship, the LG G2, commencing in August and going full-blast by October 2013, in the process inadvertently telling the world that the Nexus 5 release date is near.
No denials or confirmations coming from Google and LG but Android watchers are convinced, it is the Asian device manufacturer that will assemble the Nexus 4 successor. Target release date is reportedly first week of October and the native Android smartphone will debut with Key Lime Pie or version 5.0 of the Google mobile OS.
The floating time frame is in line with the scheduled distribution of the so-called Nexus 5 template, the G2 that is, which initially will be made available to Korean buyers in August, which should be a few days following its New York unveiling on August 7, Engadget said in a report.
Next in line is the U.S market, added the tech site citing LG CFO David Jung as the source of its information, where the G2 will be picked up by a number of U.S. telcos for a September availability.
The rest of the word should follow in October, the same report said, which should include the UK, Australia and other key markets in Asia-Pacific.
While there was no direct allusion to Nexus 5, LG's release and distribution schedule rhyme with the speculations surrounding the Nexus 5 arrival.
The G2's August debut gives ample time both for Google and LG to implement hardware and software adjustments prior to the re-launch of the mobile phone on October 5, which by that time bears the famous Nexus imprint but keeps the fresh G2 specs.
Such hardware attributes centre on the following: a 5.2-inch full HD 1080p display screen, a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor from Qualcomm, a 2GB of RAM and a 13MP main cam shooter, according to BGR News.
The G2, however, will stand on Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and it may take some before it climbs up to Jelly Bean 4.3 or KLP, which its Nexus cousin will flash right out of the box
Another major revision is the elimination of physical keys off the LG G2 front face. The home button and volume controls were re-located at the back portion of the device, which is a redesign expected to be showcased by Nexus 5 on its release date.
