LG wants a part of the tablet market. The company just unwrapped their latest Android tablet offering, the LG G Pad 8.3. Reports say the tab will soon hit stores by October. Can LG compete with the likes of Nexus 7, iPad Mini and Galaxy Tab 3?

LG has finally revealed their latest gift. The LG G Pad 8.3 boasts of a 1920×1200 resolution display. According to LG, this is the first 8-inch tablet to feature a Full HD display.

The device runs on a Snapdragon 600 chipset with a quad-core CPU clocking at 1.7GHz. It also includes a 2GB of LPDDR2 RAM, Adreno 320 GPU and 16GB of internal storage. The new G Pad 8.3 shoots at 5 megapixels from the back and at 1.3 megapixels from the front. The G Pad comes with a 4,600mAh battery through LG has yet to confirm the battery life of the tablet.

The latest tab from the Korean tech manufacturer runs on Android 4.2.2.

The G Pad is slightly bulkier than the Nexus 7. It spans at 216.8 x 126.5 x 8.3mm. The Nexus 7 only measures 200 x 114 x 8.65mm. The G Pad is also heavier at 338g whereas the Nexus is only 290g. People will have to wait for connectivity options as LG has not clarified these yet. Some reports say that it is likely LG will only be offering a WiFi version. There are no words on whether it plans on supporting LTE.

LG will start shipping the device in Europe, Asia and North America once the fourth quarter of 2013 starts. There are no prices announced yet for the tablet.

Despite the large screen, the LG G Pad 8.3 has a promising design. The tablet has a thin and sleek form factor which allows users to hold it comfortably. People can also choose to use it with only one hand. The compact portability feature is a product of consumer feedback LG learned about design optimization and customer preferences.
