Following update to Android 4.4.4 KitKat, many LG G2 users reported problems including battery life and LTE connection. Some user also noted that the GPS on their devices has been inaccurate. Fortunately, there are quick fixes around these problems.

Fixing Battery Life

Normally, software updates should improve or fix battery life. The opposite happened for the LG G2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. According to AndroidPIT, possible reasons for the battery drain in the latest update are the location data and apps used. Some of these apps include Google Maps, Facebook Messenger and similar programs that require WiFi or GPS for searching locations.

Users should check their apps and see if they have a handful of programs using WiFi and GPS location search. They can check in the settings. Disabling some of these can help extend the device's battery life. Follow these steps:

  • Open device settings.
  • Go to Location.
  • Switch to "battery saving mode" instead of high accuracy. The KitKat update introduced these options offering better control to users.

Users can also switch to battery saver mode through the Battery Settings menu. If all else fails a factory reset should be in order.

Fixing LTE Network and Mobile Data Problems

If the device does not connect automatically or if the mobile data does not work properly, it is often best to wait for the next update fix. Although users can try is to switch the device to airplane mode then switch back to normal settings. It is one of the quickest solutions though users may have to get used to the idea of doing it every time there are connection problems.

For Sprint subscribers, they can go to Sprint Zone and check My Device. Open Dashboard and choose Data Network. Proceed to Update Profile and Confirm with OK.

Fixing Knock On and Knock Code

Android Origin reported some users complaining about the Knock On feature on their devices. Specifically, the feature has been deactivated. To fix this, go to Settings, open General and proceed to Gestures. Make sure to enable or turn on the feature. If the problem persists then LG G2 should be re-calibrated. To do this, open Settings, go to Accessibility and open Touch & Hold Delay.

Fixing Inaccurate GPS

To fix GPS problems, to go Settings, open Location and make sure High Accuracy has been turned on for Location access. This may drain the battery of the device but users can turn off other apps that do not require the location services.
