In answer to the ever growing smarter phones, LG released its flagship LG G2 to run at par with the likes of Samsung S4. The question now is, does LG G2 have what it takes to race with the current flagships?

Aesthetics

There is a negligible difference between G2 and Galaxy S4 in terms of dimension. G2 is only slightly bigger with a 138.5 x 70.9 x 8.9 mm dimension compared to Galaxy S4 with a 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm dimension. In terms of weight, there is also a slight difference with G2 at 142.88 g and Galaxy S4 at 130 g. Surely you won't feel the 10-gram difference when you put it in your pocket.

In terms of design, both are sleek, smooth and curvy in appearance with Galaxy S4 being slightly slimmer than G2. The big difference lies on the on/off and volume buttons. G2 had boldly challenged the tradition that on/off and volume buttons should be on the side of the phone. The LG flagship's on/off and volume buttons were placed on the phone's rear to make volume adjustment easier when calling.

Ergonomically speaking, G2's design had indeed made it easier to adjust the volume when you are speaking on the phone. The problem lies when you are not speaking on the phone. It is difficult to manipulate the phone with just one hand, especially when the buttons are on the rear.

Screen and Display

Despite having a slight difference in size, G2 has a wider screen of 5.2 inches compared to Galaxy S4's 5-inch screen. Both phones have full-HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. However, when it comes to video-streaming, Galaxy S4 is better with its pixel density of 441ppi compared to G2's 424ppi. Colors are brighter and contrast deeper with Galaxy S4's AMOLED.

Performance

G2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.26GHz processor with 2GB RAM. This is superior to Galaxy S4's Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core 1.9 GHz processor with 2GB RAM.

For everyday usage, G2 performs its functions more efficiently than Galaxy S-4. What G2 is lacking that Galaxy S4 have is its expandability. G2 has no microSD slot.

Camera

Both G2 and Galaxy S4 are sporting a 13MP camera unit. But, G2 images have slightly deeper color and more details.

Battery Life

G2 packs a longer battery life of 3,000mAh capacity compared to Galaxy S4's 2,600mAh capacity. For watching videos, G2 can last for 4.3 hours while Galaxy S4 can only run for about 3.75 hours.

Price Range

Both phones' price starts at $489. G2's price ranges from $489-$611 while Galaxy S4's price ranges from $489-$926 at shopbot.com.

The Ultimate Decree

At almost the same price, LG G2 gives superior performance, slightly better photos, and longer battery life than Samsung Galaxy S4.
