LG recently announced their latest smartphone offering, the LG G6. The flagship handset boasts of excellent specs potentially knocking out the Optimus Pro. The Pro was the company's previously flagship offering available through AT & T.

LG seems to be learning from its Korean fellow, Samsung. The latest G2 packs on a quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU clocked at 2.26GHz and a 13-megapixel camera. This rivals Samsung's latest high end smartphone offering, the Samsung Galaxy S4. Other specs include the 1080p HD display and Android 4.2.2.

Users can find the power and rocker buttons on the back of the phone.

Perhaps one of the standout features of the device is the Snapdragon 800 processor. The lightning-quick chipset runs many smartphones and tablets on the market today. According to several sources, the G2 smartphone can be considered as most ambitious yet from LG. A closer examination of the product will reveal whether it can compete or topple other Android competitors.

Primary Components

The 800 quad-core processor offers support for 4G LTE advanced. The device also comes with a 2GB RAM. There is a dedicated memory allotment particularly designed to manage graphic processes. This component is called the GRAM. The LG G2 is the first smartphone to ever feature such technology.

The GRAM makes the LG G2 an ideal mobile gaming companion.

Based from initial observations of customers and analysts, G2 is a speed demon. Users can expect to navigate easily through the menu. Screens and applications opened quickly. The same is true about the Moto X phone using the X8 processing system architecture. The Snapdragon S4 processor it uses along with the two digital signal processors can also give the G2 a run for its money in terms of processing speed.

LG G2 will still have to be benchmarked to test its functions and abilities to their fullest.

Internal Storage and Battery

LG will offer two versions of the G2: 16GB and 32GB. However, both models will not include a microSD slot for expandable memory. It is best for users to choose carefully among the two variants so they will not have memory problems in the long run. Choice should be based on preferred apps, kinds of digital media files to save and music among others.

A 3,000mAH battery supports the device. Battery can extend up to 1.2 days. This offers a significant amount of power considering a 3,300mAh battery and 3,5000mAh battery power up the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx and Droid Maxx respectively.

Design

LG's G2 features a large 5.2-inch 1080p IPS LCD display. It offers a pixel resolution of 423ppi density. Despite the massive display and the dual-routing touch-screen technology, LG's G2 still remains thin and light. Users will not have a problem carrying it around and using it. Profile is 8mm or 0.3 inch thick. The soft round edges or curves of the phone allow people to grip it comfortably. The glossy surface of the device allows it to slide conveniently in pockets.

Others dimensions include 2.79 inches wide and 5.45 inches tall.

One issue though about the smooth texture of the G2 is that black and white variants are not fingerprint-proof. Users may have to wipe the device constantly to make sure it appears clean and nice. The back skin of the phone reveals iridescent highlights. The style is similar to the Nexus 4 only with a little bit of flair.

Against Samsung Galaxy S4

LG and Samsung are not just both Korean brands but they are also stiff competitors. Both companies have a history of releasing products that overlap with each other - lineup that shares similar features. LG was ahead when it released their Optimus G featuring a 13-megapixel camera. However, Samsung managed to be consistent.

LG is not backing down anymore.

To date, G2 packs on a possibly faster processor though there are instances the differences may not be as apparent. As for the screen, it is also a close competition since both phones have large screens that are head to head against each other. Similar to the S4, the G2 is also targeting users with smaller hands and tighter pockets.

One advantage of the G2 is that it offers a clean interface. The UI shortcuts are also convenient. The Galaxy S4 has so many features they can be more overwhelming than useful to many users. LG has better luck with their simpler and cleaner interface.

Against Moto X

Moto X has a lower screen solution. It also has a smaller screen and slower processor compared to the G2. These first three aspects already put LG's smartphone ahead of the game. However, Moto X does compete in terms of grip and ease of use. It also challenges the G2 with easy navigation. G2 focuses on onscreen gestures for screen navigation.

Moto X, on the other hand offers a Peak feature. This allows apps to interact with each and for users to place their preferred apps on the lock screen. It also has a voice control allowing people to kick start their handsets quickly. Even with lower megapixels, Moto X's 10MP camera can still compete with G2's 13MP.

Against HTC One

HTC One remains to be one of the best handsets people can buy. It is a premium type of device. The device is made from aluminum thus assuring sharp features. It is sleek in every sense. While the smaller screen does not make it as portable, other features make up for it.

HTC One comes with a 1080p HD LCD screen. HTC's handset has a smaller display thus the images and text appear clearer than G2. Both phones have tout HD speakers assuring quality audio experience. One has an older version of Android although users can update it.

So LG G2 seems to challenge tough contenders. It will need to have more assessments.
