LG G5 to land in Canada on April 8 (with free CAM Plus camera accessory)
Launched alongside the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge at the recent MWC 2016, the LG G5 was one of the most anticipated smartphones of 2016. Now, the South Korean electronics giant has confirmed that the G5 release date for Canada will fall on April 8, and will come with a bonus for buyers.
"The LG G5 is a game-changer for the mobile space in Canada," Valerie Malone, director of marketing, LG Electronics Canada, said.
“We’re working on some really interesting promotions. For example, customers who purchase the LG G5 on pre-order will receive a bonus offer at participating carriers,” Ross Snow, vice president of Mobile Communications Sales, LG Electronics Canada, added.
According to Rogers, Canadian customers can get their hands on a free CAM Plus camera accessory worth CA$100 with every pre-order of the LG G5, as long as supplies last. Once attached to the phone, the CAM Plus adds analog camera controls and an auxiliary battery.
The LG G5 will be offered by all major Canadian carriers, including Bell, Telus and Rogers. Regional carriers like Eastlink, MTS, SaskTel, Videotron and Wind Mobile will also ship the smartphone in Canada, says LG.
The successor to the LG G4 will be available in Silver, Titan or Pink, depending on the carrier. Major online retailers like Best Buy, The Source, Costco and Wireless Wave will also retail the LG G5.
Videotron already confirmed it will begin pre-orders on March 31 and will also offer a free CAM Plus accessory to all buyers, limited to availability.
Meanwhile, Amazon UK started accepting pre-orders for LG G5 at £529 (AU$1005).
The LG G5 features a 5.3-inch Quad HD Quantum Display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels that results in a pixel density of 554ppi (pixels per inch) .
Other G5 specs include a Snapdragon 820 processor paired with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of in-built storage with memory expansion capacity up to 2TB.
The LG G5 sports a 2,800 mAh battery coupled with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 functionality. The rear camera module contains a standard 16-megapixel sensor along with an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens. The LTE supported smartphone is shipped with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.
