Google's 2013 smartphone flagship, the LG Nexus 5, could be out by middle of October as release date for the handset, along with the new Android build, KitKat, has been reportedly set for Oct 14.

According to Australian tech blog site AusDroid, there is a chance that the device will emerge from Google's vault next month and Android 4.4 will be on hand for the grand outing. The report, however, is considered speculative as of writing.

Still, AusDroid offered possible new features that the candy bar KitKat will expectedly bring to the ever-exploding Android table. Among them are the following:

  • Miracast updates
  • New Gallery Visualisation
  • New APIs regarding animations
  • Change android default blue to other preset palette colours
  • New notification widgets

Yet the most exciting changes that have been attributed by experts to KitKat is the likely elimination of the dreaded Android fragmentation, which should mean that even old handsets running in the platform will be able to chew down the mobile operating system.

"It's our goal with Android KitKat to make an amazing Android experience available for everybody," the tech site reported Google as saying.

As for the Nexus 5, the rumoured LG-assembled device is widely anticipated to upstage its predecessor, the Nexus 4, by putting together components, inside and out, that make for a worthy rival to the best handsets out there - chief of which are the iPhone 5S, the iPhone 5C, the Galaxy Note 3 and the months-old Galaxy S4.

Specs for the Nexus 5 will be patterned after the LG G2, which boasts of the following: a 2.3GHz Snapdragon quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display and a massive battery. But some of the features will be tweaked to suit that of the Google Nexus signature, reports said.

This early, the native Android smartphone is seen to fare much better compare to the Nexus 4, which immediately drew praises during its November 2012 debut. Its global distribution, however, faltered, in the months that followed as Google grappled to meet popular demands.

Eventually, annoyed Nexus 4 buyers shifted their attention to other brands, which partly helped Samsung's GS4 to dominate the Android world. As of June 2013, the Sammy here phone clocked more than 23 million in total sales while Nexus' numbers were too far behind.

Analysts are convinced nothing of the same will occur this year as Google reportedly made sure that enough Nexus 5 stocks are made and they will reach their market destinations without delay.

In an early review, the handset is reported to splash big waves due to its gorgeously wide-screen, durable but sexy body and the innate class it exudes. The perception, however, is based on the notion that the Nexus 5 will be mostly around on the LG G2.

Prior to this new development, the Nexus 5 release date is supposed to happen in the same month but on a later date, Oct 31 to be exact.
