Google has likely chosen LG as the maker of Nexus 5 and its design resembles the G2 smartphone. Both mobile devices are capable of shooting high-quality videos and images powered by upgraded battery packs. Aside from all-new design of pure gestures on the display screen and placing of buttons at the back, the G2 smartphone features a 13MP advanced rear camera shooter with optical image stabilisation for less blurry shots on moving targets or shaky hands.

Moreover, it has a 13MP camera with OIS features 8x digital zooming, sapphire crystal glass lens, multi-point autofocus of 9 points and full HD recording/playback at 60 frames per second.

A new report says that the upcoming Nexus 5 will feature the MEMS camera or microelectromechanical technology - which would be first on a smartphone. According to GSMArena and PhoneArena, Nexus 5 is equipped with 8-megapixel rear-shooting MEMS camera which locks focus in a fraction of a second, multiple times faster compared to current cameras.

MEMS camera on the Nexus 5 does not feature BSI or backside illumination that allows the lens to multiply surrounding light to brighten up low-light scenes. But the camera boasts f/2.4 aperture with sensor size of 1/3.2 inches.

Google using MEMS technology for the Nexus 5 features the following:

- Much smaller compared to other mobile cameras

- Less power consumption

LG installed the next-level battery called SiO+ with 3000 mAh rating which is designed to extend the battery life, lasting longer compared to the lithium-ion. SiO batteries or Silicon oxide based are more sophisticated compared to standard batteries used on mobile devices.

LG featured the same G2 battery type on the Optimus Vu and it aims to use the dead space on conventional lithium-ion batteries which leads to longer lasting performance. In addition, SiO batteries enable maximum storage, super-slim size and GRAM chipset for up to 20 per cent less power consumption.

Nexus 5 is rumoured to still have the traditional non-removable battery with 2300 mAh rating. It is expected that Android 4.4 KitKat will optimise battery pack, becoming longer lasting compared to the Nexus 4 smartphone.

Google plans to make new technological innovation on the Nexus 5 to go mainstream, especially to the upcoming versions of other Nexus devices. New Android OS, new camera and new hardware opens the next-generation Nexus smartphones and tablets.
