LG may not be working on Google Nexus 5 as the company has no plans to release a Google Play Edition of the new LG G2.

LG has no plans yet for a Google Play edition of LG G2."The focus for the G2 is penetration through carriers. That, however, could change down the road,"

according to AndroidCommunity quoting LG public relations officer, Ken Hong.

LG has been working hand-in-hand with Google before it launched GPe LG devices. But that may not be the case in LG G2. LG confirmed that the flagship LG G2 smartphone will be released via over 100 different carriers worldwide in the next 90 days.

LG revealed its latest device yesterday at the Lincoln Center in New York.

Some of the LG G2 specs are: quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.3GHz paired with 2GB of RAM; 13-megapixel camera; 2,610mAh Li ion battery; Android 4.3 Jelly Bean; and 5.2-inch 1080p HD with a slim 2mm bezel surrounding it.

Rumours claimed that the Google Nexus 5 will include a 5-inch Full HD screen display; an eight-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz paired with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM; 13MP rear camera; 3300mAh battery capacity and the latest Android OS.

The handset is rumoured to be available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants and will support 4G/LTE connectivity, which was missing in the Nexus 4.

Due to the immense success of LG Nexus 4, Google is expected to release the next generation of the device. LG Nexus 4 was sold out in minutes after its release and 400,000 units were sold initially. Google and LG also entered in a mud-slinging and blaming game on who is at fault for the slow production of the handset.

An executive of LG Electronics confirmed that the company is not working on the successor of the popular LG Nexus 4 dubbed as Nexus 5.

Vice President of LG Mobile in Europe Won Kim said in a statement: "The Nexus 4 was a great success despite the production problems for us and Google. However we do not need such a marketing success again."

However, reports stated that LG clarified the statement as a misinterpretation. For now, Google has not confirmed yet which company will make the Google Nexus 5.
