LG has shared a roadmap for its future products by stating that it will be building handsets with bendable displays in 2015 and we could see handsets with flexible and rollable screens in 2017. The South Korean tech giant will be making use of the Plastic OLED screens on its future products.

The POLED display was first seen on the LG G Watch R. It is made up of plastic that can withstand high temperatures. The display can be curved without the fear of developing bubbles or foreign particles, states LG News Room. It can support thinner bezels and it can support LTPS and TFT technology.

It further states that the displays that are made up of glass can be broken easily while the POLED displays that are made from plastic can be bent to certain angle without breaking it. In comparison with LCD, POLED displays are very light in weight and very slim. By this, LG clearly indicates that it will be using POLED display technology to build bendable, foldable and rollable displays in the coming years.

LG had already released the LG G Flex in 2013, which came out with a curved display screen. According to GSMArena, the company is planning to launch a successor model of the LG G Flex, which will actually sport a bendable display in 2015. LG is very excited about the arrival of its POLED display on its upcoming products. It states that the LG products powered with POLED displays would play a significant role in the lives of the people.

Tech Radar states that there is a possibility that the manufacturer will roll out the LG G4 with a bendable display in 2015. However, the source feels that instead of using a mainstreams handset to try the bendable display, the company may launch its bendable display on a non-flagship smartphone.

If things happen according to the roadmap shared by LG, the company will build smartphones, tablets, TVs, and laptops with rollable display by 2017. As of now, LG is in plans to launch tablets with POLED displays in the coming year or by 2016.
