LG’s 4K Ultra HD Streaming Tech: Opening a Whole New Gaming Experience
Gamers were not left behind or letdown at the Mobile World Congress this week as LG demonstrated a new device that could be a good turnaround for the gaming industry and experience.
Amid releases and rumors of next-gen consoles, LG has now come out with the LG 4k/Ultra HD streaming technology that allows the live streaming of video content and games from your smartphone to your LG TV.
According to The Verge, the wireless transmission operates to transform content that is playing at 1080p on the phone to be upscaled to a 4K on the TV.
Gizmodo adds that this is done using Wi-Fi and Miracast technology, so you are able to mirror and see the content on TV.
The Verge adds that, during the live demonstration, the streaming was smooth enough to be appreciated, with frame drops at some occasion deemed ignorable at worst.
The LG 4k/Ultra HD TV was first introduced at the International Consumer Electronics Show 2013 last January where Ultra HD TVs stole the spotlight. As a premium and recently launched product, LG's 84LM9600 84-inch 4k/Ultra HDTV is sold at $19,999, reports EndGadget.
Other features of the LG 4k/Ultra HD TV includes a motion-sensing Magic Remote, which according to Crutchfield, gives users the ability to operate several functions with just a wave of the hand for easier navigation. There is also the option of voice commands, which you can operate through the remote.
As a Smart TV, LG also offers access to a wide array of entertainment, from exclusives to video service s and even to social networks. It's basically a TV that connects you to a wide aspect of your life without having to leave the couch.
For now, it is currently a better deal compared to Sony's $25,000 model. According to Digital Trends, LG's model is already available in the market-it's actually one of the first 4K/Ultra HD TV made available in stores.
But it's only a matter of time until other models follow up with a similar approach to gaming, but, for now, it seems that LG is opening up a potential new avenue in the world of gaming.
