On their respective release dates, the technology to come with the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 5S would offer viable help on distress situations like suicide attempts plus more responsive touchscreen functions.

The first powerful feature, courtesy of the impending iOS 7 jump for Apple devices across the board, is principally designed to save lives, Apple Insider said in a report.

The main player on this is the newly-improved Siri. This PDA has been equipped to deal with users contemplating suicide thoughts. Unlike before, Siri will present a way out of the situation and one of them is by offering to call the suicide prevention hotline in the United States.

Obviously, the service is focused at the moment for American users and it remains unclear if the same feature will be configured on suicide help systems currently in placed in nations like the United Kingdom and Australia.

However, the new emergency situation capability underscores the big leap afforded by Apple engineers to Siri. Among them is the Eyes-Free function, useful mostly for drivers, plus the ability to tweak iPhone and iPad settings with the active participation of the digital assistant.

And probably in time for the new iOS devices debut this year and next year, Apple will introduce upgraded multi-touch features that come with the package of patents that gained approval this week.

These are lumped with the new electronic input systems that the tech giant had invented between 2008 and 2009, bearing the following titles: 'Identifying contacts on a touch surface', 'Contact tracking and identification module for touch sensing' and 'Multi-touch contact motion extraction'.

In its report, Patently Apple described the patents as covering "apparatus and methods for simultaneously tracking multiple finger and palm contacts as hands approach, touch and slide across a proximity-sensing, multi-touch surface."

Future iOS devices, which include not only the iPhone 6, iPhone 5S and iPads but also Mac notebooks and desktops will have the ability to identify and classify "intuitive hand configurations and motions enables unprecedented integration of typing, resting, pointing, scrolling, 3D manipulation and handwriting into a versatile and ergonomic computer input device."

Note that these patents also point to the possibility of adding stylus to future Apple gadgets, likely the forthcoming builds of the iPhone 6 and the 2014 iPad lineup.
