Lorde is nominated for four Grammy Awards, a great feat especially for a newcomer, but British songstress Lily Allen still thinks the Kiwi teen has been robbed of an award nod. The “Smile” hitmaker becomes Lorde’s unlikely champion when she slammed the prestigious award-giving body for excluding Lorde from the Best New Artist category.

The Auckland schoolgirl is up for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Royals,” and Best Pop Vocal Album for “Pure Heroine” at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards in January.

However, her exclusion from being nominated for Best New Artist has been noticeable ever since the nominees were announced earlier in December. One would think that the newcomer would be up for the trophy since she has just broken through the music scene in 2013.

And that’s exactly the question Allen has been asking the Grammys.

She tweeted:

It’s endearing that Allen appeared to be more upset of Lorde’s apparent Grammy snub than Lorde herself. In case the Grammys didn’t get her point, Allen added a few more tweets for good measure.

Allen, who has received a Grammy nod in the past, isn’t nominated for the upcoming Grammys since her latest song “Hard Out Here” was released in November, outside the show’s eligibility period.

Lorde, meanwhile, has cancelled her appearance at the Laneway Festival in Auckland to attend the Grammy Awards. She will, however, make it up to ticketholders by staging a free show two days after the show.
