Lumia 535 Touchscreen Issue Resolved As Microsoft Pushes Out Software Update, Brings Along Cortana For Newer Markets
On Dec. 16, IBTimes had reported on the Microsoft Lumia 535 touchscreen sensitivity issue. The touch sensitivity of the first Microsoft branded Lumia handset is so low that it ends up registering at the wrong place. Moreover, it was found that the touchscreen was unable to detect multi-touch properly. Microsoft had confirmed on the issue and it was also reported that the software giant was working on a fix in the form of software update. Finally, the software update is available and its announcement was done by Microsoft through the Nokia Discussions forum.
In selected countries, Microsoft has started releasing a new software update for Lumia 535 (RM-1089). The new update also comes with some other enhancements apart from the fixing the touchscreen sensitivity issue. Cortana, the voice-assistant app from Microsoft, is now available for newer markets. The action center now allows users to easily turn on and off data connection.
The new software update also allows users to schedule future phone updates. It also improves the overall functionality of the handset. GSMArena claims that Microsoft was expected to roll out the update on Dec. 27. However, Microsoft has done a great job by rolling it earlier than the expected date.
As mentioned before, the update is available in a certain market. It is recommended to wait a few days more if Lumia 535 users are unable to see the new update on their handsets. Users can access this online tool from Microsoft to check whether the update is available for their handsets. According to WinBeta, the update is already is available for Lumia 535 users in Europe and South Africa. Others may have to wait until early 2015 to receive the new firmware update.
