Despite prevalent rumors it looks like Apple's newest OS, the Mac Lion will not be roaring at users this week but instead will be out next week with the new Mac Book Airs and Mac Minis.

Instead of the Lion OS X being loudly announced in the Apple homepage there is only a minor footnote at the bottom of the page about the Lion "coming this July". News sites have been saying that the next generation OS will be launched next week either on July 19th or July 22nd to go with the newest Mac Airs and Mac Minis. This is mostly speculation at this point; the only thing certain is that Apple doesn't have a set time for the Lion release aside from this month.

According to All Things D the company has plans to unveil the updated MacBook Airs line late next week. One source said that "the rumor sites are off by a week." The new MacBook Air is said to be sporting the Sandy Bridge processors from Intel, support for Apple's new high-speed Thunderbolt, the return of the backlit keyboard and 128Gb to 256Gb of flash storage.

One certain news is that Apple had just begun accepting Lion-ready apps to be reviewed for the Mac App store. The new apps first tested against the Gold Master version of the Lion OS. Lion compatibility means taking full advantage of the 64-bit architecture and support for Lion-specific features like full-screen apps and the resume function. Apps in the Apple Store that are Lion-ready are WordCrasher, BusyCal, Cruz, Pilot eLog, Harmony Worship, ShortCuts, SwordSoft Layout and many others.
