Apple will be hosting another media event this coming Oct 15. The said media event will be the venue for the tech giant to launch its latest products, namely the iPad 5 and the iPad Mini 2. While Apple has not officially confirmed it yet, many reports are also saying that the company will be also be launching the newest Mac operating system, the OS X Mavericks. Along with this, many are hoping that the 2013 MacBook Pro will join the party.

According to a report by 9to5 Mac, Apple has also started training its staff on the use and other concerns of the latest operating system. The staff will undergo training particularly on the features of the new interface. They will also learn how to troubleshoot and how to install using the new OS.

Apple Care staff will be divided into batches for the training. Separating the personnel into small groups for training is a precautionary measure to avoid leaks, according to the report. Apple wanted to make sure no other details get out before the official launch.

Apple introduced its latest Mac operating system during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) event last June. From then on, there have been eight developer previews about the interface. This time, people are hoping that the Oct 15 event will finally take the veil off the OS.

Last September 16, Apple had the eighth Developer Preview of the OS X Mavericks. The preview came two weeks following the seventh Developer Preview. The latest preview can be downloaded from the Mac App Store.

Reported features of the OX include a tabbed finder, new Maps app, iBooks, iCloud Keychain, improved Safari, redesigned calendar and multiple displays, among others. A number of sources expect apple to release the final version of the Mavericks OS X by the last week of October. This is just in time for the holidays.

In 2012, the Mountain Lion OS X was released in July. The starting price was at $19.99, comparatively lower than the cost to upgrade to OS X Lion at $29.99 in 2011. However, for the OS X Mavericks cost and other details, people will have to wait for official announcements from Apple.

While Apple offered the iOS 7 upgrade for free to iDevice users, there is a chance the tech giant will charge for the OS X upgrade. On the other hand, Windows is offering current Windows 8 users free upgrade to Windows 8.1. So Apple may rethink charging anything for the upgrade, especially with the competition in the OS market getting stiffer.
