The latest casting news on the video game movie adaptation "The Last of Us" claim British actress Maisie Williams is eyed for the female lead character named Ellie. Producer Sam Raimi and writer Neil Druckmann revealed during the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con panel that they already had a meeting with the 17-year-old "Game of Thrones" star but nothing is definite yet.

"I think it's going to be a great character journey and a great love story, and a great horror picture," Sam Raimi stated in the Digital Spy report. Meanwhile, writer Neil Druckmann shared that focusing on the central relationship between characters Ellie and Joel is his main priority when it comes to working on the movie script.

Ellie and Joel are the two survivors on the 2013 game who will continue to survive together while they go on a journey finding the cure for the plague that ruined human race. According to Druckmann, there has never been a great film made from a video game and they will be working really hard in order for that to be achieved.

The Star Pulse report noted down that Maisie Williams, who portrays Arya Stark in the HBO series "Game of Thrones," is the sought after actress for the role of Ellie because of her resemblance to the young video game character.

In the Game Zone report, Neil Druckmann further shared his thoughts on casting the actress that will perfectly portray Ellie in "The Last of Us" film. "In an ideal world, Ashley Johnson would be 14. But there's some way to get those actors into the film," the writer stated.

Fans posted comments regarding the casting news where they suggested the potential actresses who could portray the video game character. Some of the actresses mentioned were "Twilight" stars Dakota Fanning and Mackenzie Foy, Chloe Moretz, Johnny Sequoyah and Troian Bellissario.

According to the Mail Online report, Maisie Williams attended the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con Women Who Kick Ass panel on Saturday, July 26, in California and talked about her work experience in "Game of Thrones."

The young British actress revealed to the ScreenDaily that she has grown into the role and learned a lot to enhance her acting skills. "I'm grateful that people saw something in me. I don't come from a world where opportunities like this happen and I'm going to make the most of it," Williams shared.

Aside from her work on "Game of Thrones," actress Maisie Williams has been filming "The Falling." The British independent film, which also stars Greta Scacchi, Maxine Peake and Joe Cole, is scheduled to be released this 2014.
