"Man of Steel 2" director Zack Snyder remains tight-lipped on the upcoming film's production but he continues to defend the decision to cast "Argo" actor Ben Affleck as Batman. The film director discussed about the right casting choice for Batman in the Comic Book Therapy report as well as the influence for the "Man of Steel" film sequel.

"Ben brings an interesting counterweight to the performance of Henry [Cavill] in the role of Superman. He has the experience necessary to paint the picture of an older and more advised man than Clark Kent, who bears the scars of a seasoned vigilante while retaining the charm that Bruce Wayne deploys when present in the world," explained Mr Snyder in the report that got translated from the French magazine Popcorn.

The director further confirmed that the comic "The Dark Knight Returns" is an influence to the "Man of Steel 2" film but it will not be a continuation of the story. The Enstars report notes that the comic features the aged black-caped superhero coming out of retirement and facing off his former ally Superman.

Another person defending Ben Affleck getting cast in the "Man of Steel 2" is producer Michael Uslan. The film producer stated in the HNGN report: "A number of years go by, and then all of a sudden the torches and the pitchforks go up, 'oh my god, the guy that played the gay cowboy is going to be The Joker? They're going to destroy the greatest super villain in history. And then after Heath Ledger's performance, when they actually went to see it, nobody ever wanted The Joker played by another actor again. So here we are, with an academy award winning filmmaker."

The cast members for "Man of Steel 2" continues to grow as Ben Affleck (Batman/Bruce Wayne), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor) and Jeremy Irons (Alfred) join Henry Cavill (Superman/Clark Kent) and Amy Adams (Lois Lane). The latest casting reports surround "Now You See Me" actor Jesse Eisenberg who recently got cast as the film's villain Lex Luthor.

According to the Inquisitr report, Lex Luthor is being re-imagined as a tattooed skinhead street punk in the "Man of Steel 2" that will go against Superman. The "Man of Steel 2" film or also known as "Batman vs. Superman" is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 6, 2016.
