Manny Pacquiao Throws Shade At Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Even though the biggest and the richest fight in the history of boxing between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao has already been set, the Filipino still can’t seem to stop throwing shade at the unbeaten American boxer. Recently, a picture of Pacquiao during training wearing a t-shirt that shows an image of the popular video game character Pac-Man about to bite on a dollar sign made its way online.
As every boxing fan knows, Pacquiao goes by the moniker “Pac-Man” while Mayweather is nicknamed “Money.” The picture, which was shared on the official account of World Boxing Organization on Twitter, made its way on various news outlets.
“What do you think about WBO Champion Manny’s t-shirt,” the World Boxing Organization posted on Twitter. “Do you like his chances against Mayweather on May 2?”

Pacquiao has arrived in the U.S. to begin his eight-week training camp for the Mayweather fight on Feb. 28, according to Inquirer Sports. He was joined by adviser Michael Koncz and Pacquiao’s younger brother Bobby. Pacquiao’s assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez, who had him go through some light training sessions while still in the Philippines, took a separate flight together with fellow assistant trainer Nonoy Neri and five other members of Pacquiao’s entourage.
The report said that Freddie Roach will catch up with Pacquiao after the seven-time trainer of the year has finished his stint in Macau, China. Roach is still in China in support of Zhou Shiming’s first world title fight against Amnat Ruenroeng on March 7.
In the meantime, Pacquiao will be training under his strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune and Fernandez. Roach will be taking over the training camp on March 9 until the fight week.
Pacquiao said that the eight-week training camp will be enough for him to prepare for the showdown with Mayweather on May 2 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. The Filipino eight-division world champion said that he is “mentally and physically ready” for the superfight.
Mayweather, on the other hand, is also set to begin training for the fight on March 2. The unbeaten fighter, who recently celebrated his 38th birthday on Feb. 24, will not have any special training for the Pacquiao fight and was quoted as saying in an interview with Ben Thompson of Fight Hype that he is treating the superfight just like another fight.
Mayweather and Pacquiao will take approximately two weeks off their training camp to promote the fight. Both fighters will take part in press tours and will reportedly shoot a commercial for the highly anticipated million dollar fight.
