Marvel Announces Release Dates Of 11 Upcoming Movies From 2015 To 2019
Superhero fans will be thrilled to hear that Marvel Studios will be releasing 11 new movies between 2015 and 2019. This includes movies like "Black Panther," "Doctor Strange," "Captain Marvel," "Inhumans" and the sequels of the "Avengers" and "Guardians of the Galaxy," among others. Ultimately, Marvel released a timetable for all its upcoming movies.
During a special event in El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, Marvel Studios announced the official release dates of its upcoming movies. In addition, the first look on the concept art of the highly anticipated film "Black Panther" was also showcased. One of the favourite comic characters, Black Panther unites the already-heavy universe of Marvel's character list, says CNet.
Notably, the character Black Panther will be played by actor Chadwick Boseman in Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War." Reportedly, this movie will hit the theatres on May 6, 2016. Furthermore, Chadwick will also play the lead role in the solo film, "Black Panther," which is expected to hit the theatres on Nov. 3, 2017.
Chadwick Boseman played the role of baseball legend Jackie Robinson in the film "42" and iconic singer James Brown in "Get On Up." On landing the Black Panther role, he said, "I'm blessed to be a part of this Marvel Universe, and to work with you both, and I look forward to making magic together."
It was also previously reported that Robert Downey Jr of "Iron Man" will be starring in the third "Captain America" film. Along with Chirs Evans, Robert Downey Jr was also part of the "Black Panther" announcement.
Moving on to the character Black Panther, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby conceived the idea of the comic character back in 1966. Apparently, Black Panther is the first black superhero in the American comic world. Other black heroes include Storm, Luke Cage and Falcon, among others.
According to CNet's report, Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios' president, has this to say about the character: "Black Panther and all of Wakanda is one of the most interesting characters in Marvel history. He's a bit of a prince, he may even become a bit of a king, but it's all about how this isolationist country meets the world."
Sadly, Marvel did not talk about "Sherlock" actor Benedict Cumberbatch's rumoured "Doctor Strange" role. However, the studio announced that the release date of "Doctor Strange" is Nov. 4, 2016, and Scott Derrickson will be the one to helm the film.
