Samsung is coming up with another iPad killer and potentially this Android tablet is a certified muscle-car, reports said.

The world would likely meet the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 on June 20 via a planned Samsung event in London and under its hood lies what could prove as the fastest mobile chip to date - Intel's Clove Trail+.

This is the latest slate that the South Korean tech giant will line up against the fifth-generation 9.7-inch iPad that Apple will reportedly unwrap in October, Reuters said in a report, pointing to unnamed sources.

It is understood that Samsung will issue two large-screen Galaxy Tab 3 versions - one powered by the Intel chip and the other by the low-power consuming ARM-based processing chips, the same report said.

"Samsung has chosen Intel's Clover Trail+ mobile chip for at least one version of its Galaxy Tab 3 10.1," Reuters reported.

The move is designed to further increase the Asian's firm's global tablet market share, which research firm IDC last pegged at around 18 per cent compared to Apple's more than 80 per cent grip of the pie.

Notably though, Samsung is gaining fast following its slow pace in the past few years, when hosts of iPad challengers seem to grapple for the right formula to finally make dent on Apple's steady tablet hegemony.

There are signs too that the regular-size iPad has already peaked, with the 7.9-inch iPad Mini taking the lead role as the tablet to beat by notching up more than 20 million units buys by the end of 2012.

To keep apace with the changing trend, Apple has reportedly redesigned the original iPad, opting for a profile similar to that of the Mini. On its release date, the iPad 5 will present a slimmer, lighter and thinner body-make, reports said, while maintaining its increase size and increasing the power it packs.

On the other side, the iPad Mini will finally get a Retina display to keep the sales momentum generated by the first edition. It was also suggested that a cheaper priced Mini will be added to the iPad menu, the decision obviously to counter the flow of affordable Android rivals hitting the market.

Details remain scarce on the specs of the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 but Samsung will likely release the tablet with Google's Jelly Bean 4.3, which experts said will make its way to millions of gadgets in the few months ahead.

Also part of the Galaxy Tab 3 onslaught are the various size options with affordable price tags. Samsung has indicated that 7-inch and 8-inch editions are landing soon, likely through the 2013 IFA event in Berlin set for early September.
