Melissa Rivers is still grieving over her mom Joan River’s sudden death, which for her was “100 percent preventable.” She also said she is amenable to accidents happening, but on her mother’s case, she cannot help but feel mad at the clinic for employing unprofessional employees who cost her mother’s life.

On Monday’s “Today” show, Melissa shared the anger she still feels over how her mother, legendary comedienne and talk-show host, Joan Rivers, died in September 2014. She said that in her personal view, the whole thing could have been prevented had the clinic’s employees had not been remissed.

“Yes, it was a tragic accident,” she said. “If something happens, and everyone does everything properly, things happen … You live with it. When it’s error after error, after error, after error, after behaviours that you cannot even begin to get your head around — you get mad.”

Going back to the lawsuit she filed in January, the document showed that Melissa accused the doctors of not being professional with their responsibilities and were even clueless that something had already gone terribly wrong with their operation — cracking jokes and taking selfies when Joan Rivers’ condition was already deteriorating and the host was starting to crash. Dr. Renuka Bankulla however, the anaesthesiologist, filed a response days after the lawsuit was filed to say that she did her job as professionally and seriously as possible — taking all the possible measures at the time to try and resuscitate the late “Fashion Police” host.

At the 2015 Daytime Emmy Awards, Melissa also delivered a moving and tearful speech about her mother’s determination to make it to the entertainment industry, crediting the daytime community for “saving her.” Melissa thanked the community for supporting her mother rigorously in the 1990s, which her mom needed because of the challenges she faced at the time, personally and professionally. The cancellation of her late night talk show followed by the death of Melissa’s dad Edgar Roseberg were terrible blows to Joan Rivers then. She added that Joan Rivers felt the love and care of the daytime community.
