Metal-Clad ‘Samsung Galaxy A5’ With Dual-SIM Support Retails For $420+ In China
Samsung's metal-clad Galaxy A5 is set for its debut in China. Apparently, Samsung's official website pertaining to China has listed down the Galaxy A5.
It is worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy A5's price is quoted to be CNY 2,599 in China, which roughly translates to US$423, AU$494 and 339 euro. Comparing this price range to other Chinese high-end smartphones from Meizu and Xiaomi, the A5 is quite pricy. Meizu's flagship handset MX4 is priced at CNY 1,799 (i.e. US$293, AU$342 and 253 euro), whereas the Xiaomi Mi 4 with a recent price cut retails at the same price range, according to GSM Arena.
Reportedly, Samsung aims to project its Galaxy A5 as the upper mid-range smartphone with premium look, thanks to the all-metal unibody frame surrounding the device. Moving on to the key specifications, the Samsung Galaxy A5 features a 5.0-inch Super AMOLED display with 720p resolution. The phone is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 410) processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz and backed by a good 2 GB of RAM. Moreover, there is a 13 MP rear-facing camera unit with LED flash support and a surprisingly good 5 MP front-facing snapper for capturing killer selfies. As far as the memory goes, the handset comes equipped with 16 GB of internal storage capacity with microSD card support for further expansion. Speaking of size, the A5 comes with a thickness of 6.7 mm and it weighs as low as 123 g, says Phone Arena.
Furthermore, the device supports dual-SIM and 4G LTE. Plus, Samsung is gearing up to release the Galaxy A5 internationally, however, the release date is unknown at this point. Interested readers should check out the impressive images of the all-metal Galaxy A5 from Samsung's Chinese website.
Pricing has always been a deciding factor for many potential buyers, especially in the emerging markets. At the same time, there are buyers who would not mind paying a premium price for any metal-clad, premium-looking device. In the meantime, there are quite a bunch of choices available in the device market offering all-metal devices. On that note, is Samsung making a mistake again by pricing the Galaxy A5 at $420?
