Michael Hogan Joins 'Fargo' Season 2 Cast
“Fargo” has added another actor to its impressive Season 2 cast list. Veteran actor Michael Hogan of “Battlestar Galactica” fame has signed on to star in “Fargo” Season 2. He is going to play a character called Otto Gerhardt, according to media reports.
Gerhardt, according to The Wrap’s report, plays a first generation immigrant from Germany. The report says that Hogan’s character took over “his father’s small trucking business and, through a mix of brutality and sheer will, turned it into a criminal empire that spans the upper Midwest.” The character will be shown confined to a wheelchair, as he has suffered a stroke, according to The Wrap. Indian servants take care of his every need, as he can no longer speak or feed himself. Also, he cannot use the bathroom. The report says that despite being confined to a wheelchair, Gerhardt is too mean to die. It was previously announced that Ted Danson, Jean Smart, Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons have also been roped in to star in “Fargo” Season 2. Smart is set to play Floyd Gerhardt, Gerhardt crime family's matriach.
Speaking about the upcoming season of “Fargo,” John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks, said that the new season of the anthology series is going to be “big” and “sprawling.” Season 2 is moving to 1970s, with Lou Solverson’s younger version becoming the main protagonist. Patrick Wilson will be now playing this character, which was originally played by Keith Carradine. Lou is a Vietnam war veteran. He will be donning the Minnesota state patrolman uniform. According to the description of the character, he is a devoted husband to his wife Betsy. In the new season, Molly will be 4 years old.
Danson is playing Hank Larsson, Lou’s father-in-law and the Sheriff of Rock County, Minnesota. The Wrap has quoted Landgraf as saying that “Fargo” Season 2 will be “in some ways more comedic, although at times a very serious show.” The new season is set against the backdrop of Ronald Reagan’s first Presidential campaign. The former U.S. President will make an appearance in the show. Landgraf also said that the cultural transformation of that time will be explored and also there is a “sense that the war has come home.”
