Microsoft details 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' season pass
New details have surfaced for the upcoming season pass and all of the post-launch downloadable content for the highly anticipated “Rise of the Tomb Raider.” The season pass will have new single-player content that will supposedly extend the game’s main campaign and have players compete with their friends on who can have the best “Tomb Raider” experience.
Microsoft confirmed the upcoming season pass content over at the official Xbox Store following a leak via Amazon last week. There will be three major expansion releases for the game, namely Endurance mode, Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch and Cold Darkness Awakened.
Lara will face extreme conditions in the Endurance mode as it will presumably have the realistic snow effects of the game. Temple of the Witch will introduce a brand new tomb for Lara to explore. This tomb happens to house an ancient terror that Lara must defeat. Finally, the Cold Darkness Awakened pack will pit Lara against infected predators.
In addition to these major DLC pieces, Gematsu has also confirmed that there will be a steady stream of outfits, weapons and expedition cards starting on the first day of the game’s release. There will be four months' worth of these downloads to keep players hooked on the game. This extends activities in-game to customising Lara’s appearance, exploring new tombs or doing more challenges.
Players can already pre-order a digital version of the game, which immediately comes with the season pass. This is most suited for players who want all of the upcoming content for “Rise of the Tomb Raider” right away. However, Crystal Dynamics and Microsoft have yet to announced the price for the season pass.
“Rise of the Tomb Raider” is the sequel to the 2013 “Tomb Raider” reboot and is a temporary Xbox exclusive. The game will launch for Xbox One and Xbox 360 next month on Nov. 10 for North American audiences and Nov. 13 for European gamers. Microsoft is also offering an Xbox One bundle that comes with “Rise of the Tomb Raider” and “Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition.”
PC gamers will get the game sometime in early 2016, though no definitive release date for this version has been given. Fans with a PlayStation 4 have to wait much longer however, as “Rise of the Tomb Raider” will hit Sony’s console on the holiday season of 2016, which is still a long way away.
