Microsoft To Launch 6 Smartphones By 2H 2015; May Bypass Operators For Windows 10 Mobile Updates
As a part of the restructuring process under the guidance of Satya Nadella, Microsoft is all set to release six new smartphones later this year. The Redmond-based company has reportedly started working on these handsets.
Microsoft has released a new preview Build 10166 for Windows 10 Mobile to those in the Insider Program. This makes the mobile version up to date with the desktop release. According to Microsoft spokesperson Gabe Aul, the build of Windows 10 Mobile is focused on “improvements to core quality”. Microsoft has started switching on its Microsoft Wi-Fi service, a new feature that will be built into Windows 10.
The Lumia 535, Microsoft's first exclusively branded smartphone, failed to increase the sales on Windows phones. Thus, the company may be coming out with the latest range of devices. Among the new entrants, Lumia 940XL, a Snapdragon 810-powered flagship phone with a 5.7-inch QHD display is worth mentioning. A more modest mid-range Lumia 940 device with slightly less powerful internal components and slightly lower price is also expected on the new palette along with few more as reported by Tech Radar. Microsoft is yet to confirm the release date for Windows 10 Mobile versions.
According to ZD Net, as per the promise made five years back, Microsoft might control the update process by completely bypassing the carriers. “Today, we're announcing this continuous update process applies to all Windows 10 devices, including phones,” the company said in a blog post. This would help the platform to remain as secure as possible and enable users to get the latest features.
