Microsoft To Launch Smartwatch With Up to Two Days Battery Backup Very Soon
All the major brands like Apple, Samsung, LG, Sony and Asus have released their editions of smartwatches. Microsoft is also heading on the track. According to PhoneArena, the Redmond based tech giant will unveil a smartwatch in the coming weeks.
Forbes states that the new smartwatch from Microsoft will come with heart rate monitor sensor and other fitness tracking features. Most of the smartwatches that are available in the market are plagued with battery life issues. The Samsung Gear S and the Moto 360 requires its users to charge the device once a day. However, the Microsoft smartwatch will be able to last up to two days on a single charge, states Forbes.
Users of Microsoft smartwatch will be able to sync the wearable with smartphones that are running on different OS platforms like Windows Phone, iOS and Android. According to PhoneArena, since the market share of Windows Phone smartphones is quite small, Microsoft's smartwatch will support iOS and Android.
Apple Watch which was announced alongside the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus will come out in the market by early 2015. However, Microsoft is aiming to capitalize on the upcoming vacation season for its smartwatch. Hence, the wearable is expected to hit the market as soon as it is announced officially.
As of now, it is not known what would be the name of the device and even the details on the pricing are unavailable. According to Forbes, the wearable tech which has still not gained popularity yet is expected to reach a market estimate of $7.1 billion in the coming year.
PhoneArena highlights that in the recent past the Redmond based company had acquired a smartwatch patent. It revealed that the wearable gadget would sport a removable exterior which could be hooked on to a belt. The device can be also connected to a dock for charging. Another PhoneArena report also states that the smartwatch from Microsoft may feature around 11 sensors.
