Microsoft Lumia 650 launch delayed until mid-Feb
There were rumours circulating last week that Microsoft will launch its Lumia 650, said to be the last Lumia ever, on Feb. 1. Now it seems the company has decided to delay the launch until mid-February.
Sources familiar with the matter told Windows Central that the launch of the business-oriented device would be delayed due to some prevailing firmware issues recognised at the eleventh hour. The device is not expected to be unveiled at an event, but will be announced officially via a blog post by the company.
The Lumia 650 is said to be the only Lumia Microsoft will launch in 2016; most probably its last one ever too. The company will instead focus on the much-anticipated Surface Phone. Panos Panay, vice president for Surface Computing at Microsoft Corp, is believed to be working on the smartphone which is expected to hit the market by the second-half of the year.
Earlier reports mentioned Microsoft has even cancelled the launch of the Lumia 750 and Lumia 850 this year. Running on Windows 10 Mobile, the Lumia 650 is tipped to sport a 5-inch display with 720 x 1,280 pixels resolution. Under the hood, the smart is believed to be powered by one of the Qualcomm’s low-end CPUs, probably the Snapdragon 210 or 212 processor.
A recent report by Gadgetz Arena reveals that Microsoft China has uploaded a video showing how Continuum works with Windows 10 Mobile powered devices. In the description of the video, the website appeared to mistakenly name one of its unannounced handsets, the Lumia Phone X, which is believed to be the Surface Phone or ‘Panos Phone.’
‘Continuum’ works on Microsoft’s latest Lumia 950 and Microsoft Lumia 950 XL ,enabling users to pair the above mentioned devices with a monitor, keyboard and mouse so they can seamlessly move from smartphone to PC or monitor.
