Microsoft Lumia 950, 950 XL preorders begin in U.S and Australia; release date, pricing, carrier support revealed

Microsoft is all set to start its new flagship smartphones, the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, in the U.S. and Australia. The release date and pricing have been officially listed on Microsoft for both countries. In the U.S., AT&T is currently the only carrier that will start offering the Lumia flagship.
In the U.S., Microsoft has started taking preorders for unlocked Lumia 950 XL for $649. The unlocked Lumia 950 is listed at $549. The shipping process for the Lumia 950 and 950 XL will start from Nov. 25 and Dec. 11, respectively. The Redmond giant is giving away a free Display Dock for Continuum feature to Lumia 950 XL users.
AT&T is the only operator to support the Lumia 950 handset. As of this writing, the carrier hasn’t confirmed on selling the Lumia 950 XL smartphone. The Lumia 950 will be available for preorders at AT&T from Nov. 17 and it will be available at retail outlets of the carrier by Nov. 20.
The Lumia 950 can be availed for $149 (AU$210) along with a contract of two years. The off-contract of AT&T Lumia 950 is $599 (AU$844). The AT&T Next plan will allow users to buy the handset by making monthly payments of $19.97 (AU$28.17) for 30 months.
In Australia, the unlocked editions of the Lumia 950, as well as the Lumia 950 XL are available on preorder. The Lumia 950 is listed for AU$999 inclusive of GST whereas the Lumia 950 XL carries a price tag of AU$1,129 inclusive of GST. The listing for both handsets shows that the Redmond giant will start shipping the preordered flagships from Dec. 8.
According to CyberShack, none of the Australian carriers has revealed details about pricing and plans for selling the Lumia 950 and 950 XL handsets. While Optus has confirmed it will sell the new Lumia flagships, Telstra has stated that it aims to release new products to customers but hasn’t confirmed supporting the Lumia 950 and 950 XL handsets. A spokesperson for Vodafone has told the publication it won’t be selling the new Lumia flagships.
