Microsoft Lumia 950 vs. iPhone 6s: compare price, features and specs
Both phones support 4k recording
The much awaited Microsoft Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL and its Windows 10 operating system have enough specs and features to impress any Windows fan. But you’ve got to compete against the best and that means against the Apple iPhone. Let’s see how the Lumia 950 stands out compared to the mighty iPhone 6s.
From display to technical specs, here’s a comparison between the Apple iPhone 6s and Microsoft Lumia 950.
Display
It seems the Microsoft Lumia 950 has a small edge in the display department. The handset has a brilliant 5.25-inch QHD AMOLED display, which is bigger and sharper than the iPhone 6s’ 4.7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD screen. There is word Apple intends to include OLED displays on the upcoming iPhone 7 but this might see the light day next summer. And one can’t deny the 3D Touch feature makes the iPhone truly unique.
Hardware
Microsoft Lumia 950 is powered by Dual-core 1.8GHz Cortex-A57 and quad-core 1.44GHz Cortex-A53 coupled with 3 GB RAM. The device runs on Microsoft Windows 10 and comes with a Li-Ion 3000mAh battery and 32 GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded via microSD card up to 200 GB. Connectivity options like LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth are included.
On the other hand, the iPhone 6s is powered by dual-core 1.84 GHz Twister 64-bit A9 chip coupled with 2 GB RAM. It runs on iOS9. The iPhone 6s has non-removable Li-Po 1715 mAh battery. Its sensors include fingerprint, an accelerometer, a gyro and proximity, among others. Connectivity options like Wi-Fi and LTE Advanced, which supports 23 LTE bands, are incorporated in the iPhone 6s. The 6s comes in 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variants.
Camera
Both smartphones sport big snappers but Lumia 950 has standout features like a 20 MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics; optical image stabilization and triple-LED RGB flash not found on the iPhone’s 12 MP camera. The iPhone has live photos, however and both phones support 4k recording.
Performance
In terms of performance, the iPhone’s Dual-core 1.84 GHz 64-bit A9 chipset wins. Nevertheless, Microsoft Lumia 950 features with a dual-core 1.82 GHz Cortex-A57 and quad-core 1.44 GHz Cortex-A53 and performs with faster efficiency.
iOS 9 vs. Windows 10
The huge difference in the two phones is their OS. Apple's iOS 9 is the latest version and works effortlessly. Microsoft’s latest version, Windows 10, is designed to run across all platforms, including smartphones. Continuum is Windows 10’s biggest edge over iOS 9. Continuum allows users to plug in a monitor, mouse and keyboard to have a PC experience.
When it comes to iOS and Windows 10, customer's preferences matters the most. Both are great smartphones. However my personal preference would be iPhone 6S.
