Microsoft Surface Book 2 might arrive October 26 with some killer upgrades in specs and features
A little over a year ago, Microsoft revealed the Surface Book, which the company claimed was the “ultimate laptop.” With another big event coming this week, the world is waiting in anticipation for an update on the Surface Book 2, which will only take the line of devices even further.
The lower-end option of the original Surface Book, which sells for $1,899, has an Intel Skylake dual-core processor, Windows 10 pre-installed and Surface Pen compatibility. What truly set it apart from its competitors, however, was the detachable screen. By paying an extra $600, users could take advantage of the Nvidia discrete GPU as well.

The equation was promising, but there is definite room for improvement. As TechRadar noted, there are problems with the Dynamic Fulcrum Hinge, which forms a gap whenever the device is closed. The screen/tablet portion of the Surface Book -- called the Clipboard -- also has a weak battery.
These issues will definitely be addressed by Microsoft in the next generation of the 2-in-1 Surface Book, especially the battery issue. The Clipboard had a standard battery life of just four hours on its own and eight hours while connected to the base. As one major selling point of the unit is its ability to be used as a tablet, the Redmond-based company will definitely be working to improve this.
The publication states the the public can expect a better screen as well. The one on the current unit has a 3000x2000 resolution, so the upcoming Surface Book 2 could sport a screen with 3840x2160 pixel resolution. Furthermore, there have been rumours claiming that the Kaby Lake processor from Intel will power the unit, giving it support for 4K videos and 3D graphics
