Microsoft Surface Book 2 release date update: Laptop to sport 4K display, USB Type-C port and more
Both Microsoft Corporation and Apple Inc. are believed to refresh their laptop line-up next month. Microsoft’s Surface Book 2 and Apple MacBook Pro 2016 will be competing in the market, according to unofficial reports.
In October 2015, Microsoft released the first generation of Surface Book with Windows 10 Pro onboard. Now, in less than a year, the tech giant is speculated to unveil the next iteration of the 2-in-1 laptop in June, with an improved design and upgraded hardware specifications.
According to The Next Rex, the Surface Book 2 will come packed with a stunning 4K display that carries a screen resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. The first generation Surface Book sports a 3000 x 2000 resolution.
The report also claims that the Surface Book 2 will be equipped with USB Type-C port, enabling the 2-in-one device to be connected to a secondary display. The installation of the new port will also ensure faster data transfer speed and more power delivery.
Moreover, the future generation of the detachable Surface Book will reportedly come with Intel’s 7th generation of Kaby Lake i5 and i7 processors, instead of Skylake chipset which powers its predecessor.
With the 14nm FinFET technology, the Kaby Lake processors are expected to deliver higher performance compared to the Intel’s 6 th generation Skylake processors.
However, there are conflicting rumours that indicate that the new Intel chipsets will not hit the market before the end of 2016.
The Surface Book 2 might also land up with an improved hinge , as reported by Vine Report.
For those who are not aware, the Surface Book is the first ever laptop made by Microsoft. Shoppers can save US$150 (AU$205) on all models of the Surface Book running on Intel Core i5 processor. To know more about the deals, visit the online website of the Microsoft Store.
In related news, Apple has apparently set the MacBook Pro 2016 release date in the same month. The device is expected to be announced at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2016.
