Microsoft Surface Mini Release Becomes Imminent, Speculated To Feature 8-inch Display, Windows 10 OS, And Qualcomm Chipset
Microsoft Surface Mini has not been announced officially by the Redmond giant. Speculations are swirling that the mini edition of Surface tablet is going to arrive by the end of this year. However, other rumours claim the device would feature Windows 10 OS and come out in the market before or even alongside the Microsoft Surface Pro 4. Interesting thing to note is that some sites like Design&Trend are referring it to as Microsoft Surface Pro Mini whereas other sites like G for Games are calling it Microsoft Surface Mini.
According to Modern Readers, Microsoft has been aiming to launch the mini version of Surface since 2012 but it has never come true. It claims that even though Microsoft has postponed the Surface Mini, its arrival still remains on the agenda. Citing Chinese UDN blog, G for Games claims that Surface Mini will roll out within 2014 even though only two weeks are remaining in this year. Moreover, Microsoft is yet to make an official announcement on it and its features
As of this writing, nothing concrete is known on the Surface Mini specifications and features. The Christian Today article on Microsoft Surface Pro 4 vs Surface Pro 3 that was published recently states that Microsoft may roll out two size variants of Surface tablets in the near future. It includes a smaller 8-inch device and a bigger device featuring a display that measures 13 to 14 inches. On the other side, Design & Trend claims that the Surface Pro Mini would with feature an 8-inch or 10.1-inch display. The Surface Pro 3 which is receiving rave reviews from the audience and tech experts measures 12 inches.
Kpopstarz says that the device may feature a Qualcomm or ARM chipset. Various other sites like CNET and DigitalTrends have reported in the past this year that the Surface Mini may feature a Qualcomm chipset. Design & Trend highlights the Surface Pro Mini would probably be the first ever device from Microsoft to feature the unrevealed Windows 10 OS. Currently, the new OS is still in its testing phase and a report from Tech Times claims that the Redmond giant will organise a Windows 10 Consumer Preview launch event after the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015.
The release patterns of previous Windows OS editions indicate Microsoft has never released a new OS during the early half of the year except for Windows 2000, says Design & Trend. So, if the small sized tablet from Microsoft is going to arrive with Windows 10 onboard, there is a possibility that the Surface Mini release date will be slated for the spring or fall of the upcoming year.
