Microsoft Surface Phone 2017 release date, news & update: Continuum & Surface Pen, top features expected
The Microsoft Surface Phone 2017 is expected to be a smartphone version of the Surface tablet and could be released in the first quarter of 2017. It has already created a lot of hype in the market due to its rumoured features and may become a tough competitor to Apple and Samsung, who are also looking forward to releasing some pretty awesome handsets in 2017.
What will make the Microsoft Surface Phone 2017 a truly great phone, is inclusion of certain specs and features that have been discussed here. Everyone is expecting the Continuum feature to be in the Surface Phone as it will allow the phone to act like a computer. According to The Verge, Continuum uses Qualcomm chipsets and Windows 10’s new universal apps to scale from a phone screen up to a monitor.
Thanks to desktop apps, Microsoft is making Continuum much more powerful in 2017. Tech enthusiasts are also expecting the Microsoft Surface Phone 2017 to come in three variants. A 32GB base version may have a 3GB RAM, a 128GB storage a 6GB RAM and 500GB storage, 8GB RAM. In fact, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella had earlier said that the company is narrowing down on three customer segments.
This will enable Microsoft to make unique contributions and also differentiate via the combination of software and hardware, Nadella said in a statement last year. The Microsoft Surface Phone 2017 could have a brand new design that will be different from all other Microsoft phones. Speakers will be included on the top as well as bottom and a 3.5mm headphone jack will be included.
A fingerprint reader will also be incorporated into the Microsoft Surface Phone 2017 and detection will be achieved via a transparent cover of the device. Last but not the least, fans really want a Surface Pen to be included. It is rumoured that the Surface Phone will have a circular port at the right side where the stylus can be inserted.
