Microsoft had unveiled the Lumia 640 and the Lumia 640 XL at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015. At the tech expo, the Redmond giant had also hinted that it will be rolling out a Surface branded flagship smartphone.

According to WM Power User, Tuula Rytila, the Vice-Preisdent of Marketing with Microsoft hinted that the company may release Surface branded phone in the future. During the event, Tuula expressed the Surface Pro 3 is the reinvented version of a laptop. In the same way, a smartphone can also be innovated and reinvented.

The probable reason why Tuula is praising the Surface Pro 3 is that the laptop-tablet hybrid PC bagged an innovation award at MWC 2015. WM Power User speculates that since Tuula said that the next flagship from Microsoft will bring along something that no other company has provided so far, Microsoft may be working on a smartphone that is as powerful as a laptop.

As far as the Microsoft flagship smartphone is concerned, the International Business Times report published on March 3 that the Executive VP of Microsoft Devices & Services, Stephen Elop only revealed that a flagship smartphone is expected to roll out later this year along with Windows 10 OS. CNet claims that Elop also hinted on concentrating more on building an innovate stylus that will allow the Redmond giant to take on the likes of iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6 by manufacturing a premium smartphone. An IBTimes report dated Feb 12 states that Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Pro Mini is expected to release in this year. Both the devices are rumoured to be powered with Intel Core M processors and will come preloaded with Windows 10 OS. The Surface Pro 4 is expected to feature a 12-inch display whereas the Surface Pro Mini is expected to house an 8-inch or 10.1-inch display.

Will Microsoft launch a laptop-like powerful smartphone along with a stylus? Will it be able to attract the audience? Or is Microsoft hinting the arrival of Surface Pro Mini? Do let us know your thoughts by posting comments.
