Pop star and actress, Miley Cyrus sounds like she’s singing a different tune when she accepted an award from Global Action Youth Leadership and what made her sang in an even moodier clip was when the trophy was handed to her by Hilary Duff, who she claimed was her ‘idol’.

This is the first for Miley to be headlined in a good light following the strings of scandalous photos and videos that had sprung up about her last year.

According to the Aceshowbiz.com, Cyrus was given the first-ever Global Action Youth Leadership Award to recognize her contribution to inspire the youngsters. The pop sensation was the guest of honor during the first Annual Global Action Awards Gala, held in California on February 18, Friday.

A complete opposite of scenery for Cyrus, who has been in media spotlight last year following the scandalous behavior described of her last year. She even topped the Worst Celebrity Model by AOL website in January.The recent controversies could have moved the star when she received the award and he admitted that she was taken aback by it.

“I got to tell you that I never thought I would get an award from Hillary Duff. This is like a dream come true to me,” the visibly touched teen singer was quoted as saying by Aceshowbiz.com.

As if to make up for all the bad publicities received in the last couple of years, Cyrus was quick to give the audience a piece of her advice.

Miley Cyrus said, “I want (kids) to do something they love. Not something that seems like a chore because someone tells them that’s the right thing to do or what their parents want or what’s important to people are them, but what’s in her heart”.

Following the series scandalous behavior closely scrutinized by media, Cyrus has revealed her plans recently in hopes for a different direction. The Aceshowbiz said that the teen singer underscored ‘charity work’ on top of her priority list for 2011. She has also expressed hopes earlier that she would want to work as a missionary in Indonesia. One of the more concrete actions being done by Cyrus nowadays is her involvement in a number of youth-centered groups including The Blessings in a Backpack program and the Get your Good On-campaign.
