Minecraft Snapshot 13W37A Ready for Testing; Mods of the Week: Paintball Mod, MC Helicopter Mod, and Arcane Winds Mod
After reports and bug finds, a new Snapshot is out care of Mojang, and most likely, the fans are already at it trying to find more bugs for developers. Check out the snapshot 13w37A care of the developers.
"You don't want to run the snapshots on an existing world if you don't want to run into chunk errors. There is a known issue with world structures such as Nether Fortresses not transitioning to 1.7 from 1.6, but we will be bringing out a 1.6.3 shortly to fix this," said the developers in a post at the forums.
This means that apart from the 1.7 update, there will be one more in the works before
the full transition. If you do find any more bugs, here is a link for you to report it immediately.
For this week's Minecraft mods, take a look at the top picks, namely the Paintball mod, the MC helicopter mod, and the Arcane Winds mod.
Paintball Mod
As the name suggests, you will be having fun with paintbrushes and armors, which are just some of the new items that you will get in the mod. 9Minecraft.net provides a list of the items that you can get, which include a remote, insta-bases, pistols, shotguns, rifles, snipers, grenades, pellets, C4, pods, weapon racks, med kits, and flags.
According to the mod creator, the Paintball mod is fun to play with another team, so best invite your friends for more action. You can choose any colour you want for your team, and all your other items will be decked as such. 9Minecraft.net also provides the recipes for crafting some of the items.
Download the Paintball mod here, and make sure that you have backed your minecraft.jar before creating a new one for this.

After you have downloaded the mod, extract the Paintball.zip into your mods folder in the Minecraft directory. Run it and play!
Arcane Winds Mod
While some mods are simple and vanilla at best, there are those that have the ambition to go farther and deeper--and the Arcane Winds mod is one of them.
Featuring over 60 functions for Minecraft, it has several items, weapons, and tools that is worth the effort of downloading to your game.
According to MinecraftDL, the mod also has special abilities and effects, as well as a bevy of weapons. These include Spear sets and the Pickaxe of Vital Unity which is one of the rarest in the toolbox.
You should also keep watch for new items, as they are lurking in chests or hidden away in mineshafts and dungeons. An Air Temple also awaits with the 1.6.2 version.
The latest version of this mod adds some more spells and the enchanter, though you should expect that only 65% of the mod is completed. You are also likely to encounter some bugs.
To download the Arcane Winds Mod, first download the installer and the latest version of the Minecraft Forge here. Next, follow the steps below:
- Extract the files with WinRAR.
- Open %appdata%/.minecraft/mods.
- Drag and drop the files into that location.
- Launch Minecraft and play the mod.
MC Helicopter Mod
Touting itself as one of the best helicopter mods to date, the MC Helicopter Mod installer is created by EMB4 and now grants you three more helicopters: the AH-64 Apache, AH6, and EC665 Tiger.

- Right click on the pilot area.
- To throttle up: W
- To throttle down: S
- To go on hover mode: Space
- To fly: Use the mouse to control the direction
- To go on gunner mode: H
- To zoom in while on gunner mode: Z
- To switch weapons, X
- To turn on night vision: C
- To exit: Left Shift
Installing the mod is pretty easy once you have downloaded the mod here. Make sure that you using Forge, as this is not compatible with ModLoader. This mod has been updated, so if you are using a modded profile/version, you can still install this to that version.
