Country Music Award-winning singer Miranda Lambert has decided to open up publicly about her life after her divorce from fellow country singer Blake Shelton.

In her latest cover story for Cosmopolitan magazine, Lambert admitted that she still hasn’t processed everything. The singer compared handling marriage with college life. She had her divorce with estranged husband following reports of split early in July.

“Marriage is a tough business, and we gave it our best college try,” she said, as quoted by Entertainment Tonight.

The former couple’s divorce followed reports that Shelton has started dating his co-mentor, Gwen Stefani, in “The Voice.” Lambert, however, has planned to take some time before jumping into a new relationship.

“I had a great relationship with an amazing man, so I know what good is. I have a great launching pad for the future. I will never take that for granted,” she said.

Talking about the future, the 32-year-old singer said she just started enjoying her single life and it's just enough for her right now. The singer explained that living her life to the fullest would also include some “mean” nights on her porch contemplating how bad her life has been.

Lambert was reportedly back home in Texas to celebrate Thanksgiving with her family. She has been grateful for the support of her family and friends since her divorce from Shelton. On Wednesday, the “Little Red Wagon” shared via Instagram a snap of the welcome note from her mom.

“Nothing beats a handwritten note from Mom. #homesweethome #cheetosandwine,” she captioned the photo of the note surrounded by gifts and flowers.

Since Lambert’s split with her estranged husband in July, the singer has focused on family, friends and music. Her recent award at the Country Music Awards in November has also been a great help for her.

“Man, I appreciate it. I needed a bright spot this year, so thank you,” she said during her acceptance speech.

Lambert’s full interview with Cosmopolitan will hit news stands on Dec. 3.
