Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega: Five Things You Don’t Know About Miss Colombia
Crowned as the most beautiful woman in the universe, Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega is now living her Miss Universe dream as she beat 88 aspiring candidates for the most coveted crown. The Barranquilla native was crowned Sunday night as the 36th Miss Universe title holder in Doral, Florida. This made her the second Colombian beauty to win the crown since Luz Maria Zuluaga in 1958.
“I’m going to become Miss Universe because this isn’t only a personal dream, it’s the dream of 47 million people,” Vega told Huffington Post. “[I’ll be crowned] because I have great aspirations with this, because I want to be an excellent leader, an excellent example for girls and teens.
Here are the five things you don’t know about Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega.
- When asked whether she agreed to allow other contestants to undergo plastic surgery, Vega admitted that she has no problems with women going under the knife but not to the extent that they will change their original body. She preferred things that are natural as she believes that everyone is born beautiful.
- Right after the host announced her victory, Vega was booed by some members of the crowd and even in Twittersphere who rooted for Miss Jamaica Kaci Fennell. Many of Miss Jaimaca’s supporters felt that she was robbed off the title.
- As the reigning Miss Universe, Vega will receive an undisclosed salary, a one-year scholarship from the New York Film Academy and a luxury apartment in New York. Her crown was a $300,000 headpiece modelled after Manhattan’s skyline where she will spent a year during her reign.
- Not just a pretty face, the business administration student has a fourth-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and has travelled Colombia to teach others about the sports.
- Pageant owner Donald Trump describes her as “a great beauty” and one of the most beautiful women that he has ever seen. He added that from the minute Vega walked into the building everybody said that “she was a star” and she will have an amazing life ahead of her.
