Mobile game 'Bleach: Brave Souls' getting worldwide release soon
In an interesting bit of mobile gaming news “Bleach: Brave Souls” is set for a worldwide release in the near future. The mobile game is a hack-and-slash type of game that features various characters from the anime duking it out against numerous foes in a number of different locations.
What makes the news interesting is that a lot of “Bleach” games don’t tend to get international releases. Despite the anime and manga being quite popular. Touch Arcade reports that only a few “Bleach” titles have made it to the West like “Bleach: Dark Souls” – which isn’t related to the games by From Software – and “Bleach: The Third Phantom” for the original DS.
Even more interesting is the fact that it isn’t a mobile card game. The genre has gotten incredibly popular over the years, thanks to addictive titles like “Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft,” which has lead to many developers attempting to replicate its success.
Still, that’s obviously not the case with “Bleach: Brave Souls,” which is a pure hack-and-slash game, as can be seen from the video below. This is fitting since the anime and manga have a lot of hacking and slashing in them, along with a mix of humour, drama and romance.
There have been numerous “Bleach” games for a number of platforms, including the DS, PSP, PS3 and much more. The titles have gone through various genres, including fighting games, 2D brawlers and – for the lack of a better term, “Dynasty Warriors” style games.
It’s interesting seeing a mobile game based on “Bleach” get a 2015 release considering that the anime recently concluded. The manga is still ongoing, so fans that prefer a reading experience won’t have to worry about missing out. The fact that a game is being released and is based on a recently concluded anime shows just how popular the “Bleach” franchise has become, almost reaching anime heavyweights like “Naruto” and “Dragon Ball Z.”
“Bleach: Brave Souls” doesn’t have a proper release date as of this writing and it’s not yet clear if this mobile game will be free-to-play or if it will be a paid app. Fans will have to wait and see, though a pre-launch campaign is available for those that want exclusive in-game items.
