Monster iPhone 7 On Release Date Will Have Killer Features As Apple R&D Spending Nears $2B
The iPhone 7 release date plan by Apple this 2015 will produce another monster device coming off the iPhone 6 in 2014. And the expected killer features designed for the next iPhone and other iDevices is seemingly backed by Apple’s swelling research and development expenditure, a new report said.
As of March 2015, the tech giant’s R&D spending is approaching the 2-billion mark, according to Apple Insider, or $1.9 billion to be precise. In the first three months of 2015 alone, the bill in the same area registered a whopping $500 million that Apple insisted are money well-spent.
Funding research and development is very important to Apple’s “core foundational technologies,” Apple CFO Luca Maestri told Apple Insider. “Research and development is the core of the company. Innovation is the core of the company,” the top executive added.
Monster iPhone 7
The new report appears to support an earlier claim made by KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo that from the iPhone 6, Apple will press the major upgrade button and skip the iPhone 6S in favour of the iPhone 7. Kuo, who is well-regarded for his mostly spot on forecasts on Apple products on the past few years, said that in order to deploy Force Touch screen sensor with its 2015 flagship phone the company has decided to overhaul its upcoming iPhone.
With Force Touch, the next iPhone is likely to reveal anew a fresh device profile that could see the retirement this year of the iconic iPhone Home button, which has been a mainstay since the iOS device was first delivered in 2007. While maintaining the iPhone 6 dimension, the next iPhone screen size could be stretched to 5-inch, from last year’s 4.7-inch, thus necessitating the ditching of the Home key.
Other killer specs and features
But beyond the outer redesigns, the iPhone 7 this year could present innovations that only Apple can unpack first. Among the hottest subject of discussion is the iPhone killer camera – its anticipated bumps up have been widely hinted in numerous supply chain leaks and patent revelations.
The latest of these supposed camera upgrades involves the inclusion of telephoto and wide-angle camera system to the next iPhone, according to Apple Insider. In a separate report, the publication noted that if the new patent clue becomes a reality, it will merely support earlier rumours that Apple will pack dual-lens camera sensors with its upcoming flagship.
“The proposed telephoto system calls for multiple lens elements,” the report said. The other new camera solutions related to this patent envision the next iPhone camera with capabilities to capture high-quality images even in low-light environment with improved colour reproduction.
On release date, the iPhone 7 is also speculated to showcase the mighty duo of A9 application processor and iOS 9, the latter unleashing the killer features hardcoded with the device. Unveiling moment is likely in late September with the market debut to come shortly in October 2015.
