More Bugs Found on Apple's Late 2013 Retina MacBook Pros: How to Fix NVIDIA Graphics Issue on 15-inch Retina
Apple just released a firmware update for unresponsive keyboard and trackpad on the late 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina. Nonetheless, the tech giant released another firmware update to address graphics problems on the 15-inch MacBook pro with Retina.
The firmware update aims to resolve problems with the performance of the discrete NVIDIA graphics. The update targets higher end models of the MacBook Pro series. According to the note posted by Apple:
This update is recommended for MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, late 2013) models with NVIDIA graphics.
This update addresses an issue which, in rare cases, may limit the performance of the discrete graphics processor after a system wake or boot.
The firmware update is 5.22MB. Users can download it straight from Apple's support site. They can also refer to the Mac App Store's Software Update Mechanism. The store provides a guide on how users can fix the graphics bug of affected machines.
The 15-inch MacBook Retina offers Retina display: 15.4-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit display with IPS technology; 2880-by-1800 resolution at 220 pixels per inch with support for millions of colors. It has a native resolution of 2880 by 1800 pixels (Retina) with supported resolutions ranging from 1920 by 1200, 1680 by 1050, 1280 by 800, and 1024 by 640 pixels.
The device starts at $1999 and goes up to $2599. Configurations include:
- 2.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache upgradable to 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache or 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache.
- 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache upgradable to Configurable to 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache.
Memory options include: 8GB of 1600MHz DDR3L onboard memory configurable to 16GB or 16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L onboard memory. Storage options starts from 256GB configurable to 512GB or 1TB flash storage or starting from 512GB configurable to 1TB flash storage. Graphics options range from Intel Iris Pro Graphics or NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2GB of GDDR5 memory and automatic graphics switching.
