More Xbox One Mechanics Explained, Keyboard and Mouse Support Detailed and No "Injustice: Gods Among Us" for Xbox One
Lately, with all the new games and announcements that the PS4 has been rolling out, the Xbox One has seemed a bit lagging behind. But now, a few more mechanics and potential support were reported for Microsoft's next-gen console.
To start off, there is the announcement of 4K resolution support for both the entertainment and gaming aspects of the Xbox One. GamingBolt reports that this will be made available for the Xbox One at launch, though the programs and games that will feature the 4K resolution will all be up to the developers.
In addition, there is also a higher degree of reliability in terms of the durability of the Xbox One. So the previous problems of the Xbox 360, such as the red ring may be avoided this time around.
"We are really excited about the reliability that folks will get out of the Xbox One. We had a lot of learning coming out of the Xbox 360 and we have put it in Xbox One," said Major Nelson in an interview quoted by GamingBolt.
At NeoGAF, Albert Penello, Microsoft director of product planning, replied to a thread on DVR recording for the Xbox One.
According to Mr Penello, not every achievement will be automatically recorded, as it is left in the hands of the developers and dependent on the kind of achievement. The achievements can be unlocked, hidden or discovered, depending on how the developers want the achievement.
"Basically we allow developers access to GameDVR and they can put conditions on an automatic recording," said Mr Penello at NeoGAF.
Keyboard and Mouse Support Possible for Next Gen?
While Valve is taking PC gaming to the territory of consoles, Microsoft may be taking some aspects of PC gaming into the Xbox One.
Speaking with Major Nelson, Microsoft director of Xbox Live programming, support for keyboard and mouse for the console may be possible if developers would be interested in working out something for it.
"We kind of have this concept of when you're playing a PC game you're leaning forward. With an Xbox game, sometimes you lean back. You're just kinda having fun," said Major Nelson in an interview quoted by GameSpot.
"We want to provide a gaming experience that people enjoy, certainly with Windows--that's our other large gaming platform at Microsoft. So there's something there," Major Nelson added.
This is the area where the conflict arises, as keyboard support for the current-gen console is usually used only for text inputs instead of full-on gaming. Still, this seems to be only an add-on feature instead of a major modification for Microsoft's console.
'Injustice: Gods Among Us' May Still Come to Xbox One
Just recently, the PS4 gained another advantage against the Xbox One, as the "Injustice: Gods Among Us" Ultimate Edition has been confirmed to head to the PS4 at launch.
Not only that, it will also be available for the PS Vita and the PS3, while the Ultimate Edition will only be out for the Xbox 360 and the PC.
At first, fans had a slight hope, when in response to a fan tweet, "I am sure we will see #Injustice on the #XboxOne," NetherRealm Studios creative head Ed Boon replied, "Not out of the question!"
But now, Videogamer reports that Warner Bros. has already confirmed that "Injustice: Gods Among Us" will not come to the Xbox One.
The "Injustice: Gods Among Us" Ultimate Edition will be available in Europe immediately at launch of the PS4 come Nov 29 and will cost £49.99 on the PS4, Xbox 360 and PS3 and £29.99 on the PS Vita and PC.
