‘Mortal Kombat’ X Concept Art Revealed By Design Studio Amid Teased Rain DLC Release
Even after weeks since its release, “Mortal Kombat X” remains a strong title. It remains at the top of the U.K. charts, regardless of platform, a slight decrease in sales and a very competitive second placer competitor with “GTA V,” reports Gamingbolt.
There is good reason for the hype to continue. Fans have been raving about the gameplay that features new character addition Jason Vorhees. In fact, fans who have started playing as the character have witnessed his rather bloody fatality, X-rayed gruesome gameplay and a gory brutality, as seen in the video below.
But developer NetherRealm Studios is probably back in the drawing board working on the next DLC. Studio Creative Director Ed Boon has recently taken to Twitter with a new teaser. IGN spotted the latest tweet, which features a simple screenshot featuring “Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles.”
As fans know, Boon has been known to get creative with teasers related to the studio’s games. This does not serve as an official announcement from the studio in any way. Still, fans did get a glimpse of Rain before, in a story trailer way back earlier this year.
Technically, Rain is not part of the roster announced to come as a DLC character. Gamerant adds that, following Jason’s addition, the other DLC characters coming are Tanya, Tremor and Predator. The last character has also just been recently teased via gameplay.
For now, fans of the franchise can enjoy the newly released concept artworks of the game from digital design studio Atomhawk. In a press release, the art studio announced that the artworks featuring sceneries and characters in “Mortal Kombat X” can now be viewed via its official website.
Atomhawk has been working with NetherRealm to create a lineup of artworks on the environments and scenes. The team of five artists had rendered then contributed to making the look and feel of “Mortal Kombat X” more gruesome and gritty.
“The biggest challenge for us was creating a new, more believable Mortal Kombat universe than we had worked on with on ‘Mortal Kombat 9,’ while still building on the game’s well-loved heritage,” said Ron Ashtiani, director and founder of Atomhawk in a statement.
Even the environments have evolved from mere background to those that are loaded with different elements that can actually be used in fights. There are almost 30 never-before-seen artworks for the “Mortal Kombat X” universe that are now out for fans to view.
