Mother’s Day 2013: Ways to Celebrate in Australia on May 12
On May 12, every mum in the world will celebrate their special day with loved ones. Family members and friends will certainly think of different ways in celebrating the 2013 Mother's Day in Australia and it could be the "Mother's Day Classic" fun run or a simple trip or vacation.
Thousands of people across Australia, mostly Yamba and Clarence Valley residents, are expected to participate in the five-kilometer track running or walking for the 5th annual Mother's Day Classic. The event helps in raising money to support breast cancer research.
The Mother's Day Classic charity event will reportedly be held at the Ford Park beginning at about 6:30 a.m. with a 10km run, 5km run and 2km walk to choose from. This year's participants include the Smith family headed by mum Shona with her daughters Leah and Caitlyn.
"I think it's a great event. Everyone gets together, kids come along, it's just a good day to hang around for a picnic or just take off," Shona Smith shared.
"It's a really good family and community event and a chance for people to celebrate the day with their mothers," Pauline Banfield, an organizer and Rotary Wodonga Central member stated. Wodonga Mayor Mark Byatt will commence the Mother's Day Classic even and Rotary barbecue, music and face painting will be available.
Participants can register on May 12 starting at 8 a.m. and the official events will start at 9:45 a.m. For those interested in celebrating Mother's Day in a different way, more details are available at the web site link: mothersdayclassic.com.au
On the other hand, a national study revealed that most of the Australian mums want a Mother Day's getaway without any household chores like cooking and laundry.
The study's survey further added that 50% of mums want to have a holiday with their husband or partner, 20% chose to spend their special day with the children, 16% would like to go on a solo trip and 14% favored a vacation with girl friends.
A three-night Pacific Jewel cruise reportedly sets sail from Sydney on Friday, May 10. "On Mother's Day of all days mums should be getting pampered in every way and given a break from the usual daily grind. It's no surprise why women are so likely to choose a cruise holiday where someone else does all the cooking and cleaning and helps explain why there has been such strong demand for P&O Cruises' inaugural Mother's Day cruise," Ann Sherry, the Carnival Australia Chief Executive, stated.
The other suggested ways for the Mother's Day celebration on Sunday could be a simple greeting card with a heart-melting message, a memorable gift, dine in at a restaurant or spending the whole day at the mall shopping, watching a movie or indulging in a beauty salon.
