Moto G 2014 v. Nokia Lumia 730 – Comparison Shows Lumia 730 Has More Powerful Specs
During the MWC 2014 event held in February, Motorola has announced that the original Moto G that came out last year is the most successful and best-selling handset they have ever manufactured. It has now been replaced by a new Moto G with upgraded specs. Meanwhile, the Nokia Lumia 730, dubbed as the selfie-centric phone, is one of the newest budget smartphones that was announced during the IFA event. It features impressive specs that can threaten the sales of Moto G 2014. Here is a comparison between both the devices based on the specifications listed on GSMArena:
Design and Display
The Moto G 2014 is a dual SIM handset that measures 11 mm thick. It weighs 149 g and is available in two colours: black and white. The Nokia Lumia 730 is also a dual SIM handset with a slimmer body of 8.7 mm. It weighs 130 g and is available in four colours: gray, white, green and orange.
The Moto G has a 5-inch IPS LCD display that offers a display resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels with a pixel density of 294 ppi. The smaller 4.7-inch OLED display of the Lumia 730 is brighter and richer and it also supports 720 x 1280 pixels along with a higher pixel density of 316 ppi.
Processor, RAM And Storage
Both handsets are powered by Snapdragon 400 SoC, which packs a Cortex A7 quad-core processor that performs at 1.2 GHz alongside Adreno 305 graphics. Both handsets also feature 1 GB of RAM.
The Moto G comes with two internal storage options of 8 GB and 16 GB. The external storage of Moto G 2014 supports up to 32 GB of microSD. Google Drive is offering 50 GB of free cloud storage space for Moto G 2014 users.
The Lumia 730 is only available with an inbuilt storage option of 8 GB, but it comes with a massive external storage support of up to 128 GB. Microsoft is providing 15 GB OneDrive cloud storage for Lumia 730 users.
Camera And Software
There is an 8 MP camera on the rear of Moto G 2014. It comes with features like autofocus and LED flash. It can record 720p HD videos at 30 fps with support for stereo sound recording. The front-facing camera is 2 MP.
The Lumia 730 is equipped with Zeiss optics 6.7 MP camera with features such as autofocus, LED flash and 1080p full HD videos at 30 fps along with stereo sound recording. The USP of the Lumia 730 is the 5 MP front-facing selfie camera, which is also capable of recording 1080p full HD videos.
The Moto G runs on Android v4.4.4 out-of-the-box and it is one of the first handsets that are scheduled to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update very soon. On the other hand, the Lumia 730 comes preinstalled with the latest Lumia Denim update of Windows Phone 8.1 OS.
Connectivity And Battery
When it comes to connectivity, both handsets feature 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, microUSB, Bluetooth v4.0, aGPS and GLONASS. The Lumia 730 comes with NFC connectivity, which is not available on Moto G 2014.
The Moto G 2014 comes with a non-removable 2070 mAh battery. Meanwhile, the Lumia 730 is packed with a removable battery of 2200 mAh capacity.
