Moto X release date finally happened last August 1 when Google-owned Motorola Mobility introduced the Moto X smartphone.

The smartphone is exclusively made and released in the United States. The new handset from Motorola is not available for sale yet outside the US. However, reports claimed that cheaper and Play Store versions of the device will be released soon.

It is reported that Motorola will slash the price of the device for the rest of the world. The cheaper version of the device will arrive in certain markets including the Europe and Canada.

Motorola is also set to unveil a Play Store variant of the device to cater consumers worldwide. This particular variant will be available in Google Play Store.

Stocking an Android variant, the device will get quick software updates. However, major downfall is that Moto X will lose the most-loved characteristic of Motorola handsets. Moto X is known as a customizable handset.

Google completely bought the Motorola Mobility in May 2012 and the Moto X is the first smartphone that is designed and built with Google's direct participation.

Moto X boasts a 4.7-inch AMOLED screen display; Architecture Motorola X8 Mobile Computing System paired with 2GB of RAM; 4.2.2 version of Android Jelly Bean OS; 10MP rear shooter and 2MP face camera; and 2200mAh battery capacity. The device is currently available in 16GB and 32GB variant. Consumers can choose from 18 different hues of the handset.

Moto X will be available later this month for $199 with two-year contract via major US carriers.

It is still unclear when the different versions will arrive and what stores will offer the device. Moreover, it is still unconfirmed how much it will cost. However, it is speculated that the Moto X unlocked version will bear a tag price of $299 when it becomes available via Google Play Store.
