After rolling out the Moto X 2014, Motorola has announced that they will be launching the 'Pure Edition' of the handset. The Pure Edition is unbranded version of Moto X. It means that the handset won't include any bloatware that are usually present on the handset when purchased through a carrier. At the moment, the Moto X is available in three variants, an AT&T model, a Verizon edition and the unlocked Pure Edition.

  • The Moto X Pure Edition specifications on Droid-Life show that it supports only LTE bands 2, 4 and 17. The Moto X Pure Edition has a model number of XT1095.
  • The Verizon Moto X with model number XT1096 supports 2, 3, 4, 7, and 13.
  • The AT&T Moto X with model number XT1097 supports LTE bands 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 17.

When Motorola was questioned about the difference in the LTE bands of three variants of Moto X on its official forums, Matt (aka Moto Matt) who works as forums manager responded by stating that the X1095 model (Moto X Pure Edition) will enabled with LTE bands 3, 5 and 7 through a software update. As of now, it is not known when the update will be rolled out.

According to AndroidCentral, since the Pure Edition is an unlocked version of Moto X, the available bands 2, 4 and 17 will make the handset for use in the US through AT&T and T-Mobile. By adding bands 3, 5 and 7, users will be able to use the handset while roaming overseas. PhoneArena claims that bands 3 and 7 are massive in Europe and southeast regions of Asia.

Moto Matt has also revealed the Moto X will not be available through Sprint and T-Mobile. However, T-Mobile will be selling an unlocked edition of Moto X. The Moto X Pure Edition is available at a price of $499.

PhoneDog claims that the estimated shipping period after placing the order for Moto X Pure Edition is 16 days. The source adds that Motorola can make the software update before or shortly after shipping the product.
